Film, 1968 ile 2001 yılları arasında Amerika'da yayımlanan popüler çocuk programı “Mister Rogers' Neighborhood”un sunucusu Fred Rogers'ın hayatını anlatıyor. 2003 yılında hayatını kaybeden Rogers'ın programı 33 yıl boyunca devam etmiş ve 895 bölüm yayımlanmıştır. Boşanma ve ırkçılık gibi konuları çocuklara anlatmayı amaçlayan Rogers, kuşaklar boyunca merhameti ve sınırsız hayal gücünü teşvik etmeyi hedeflemiştir.
